CASUAL WORKER JOB POSTING

Balmy Beach Community Day Care Centre (the Centre) is hiring Registered Early Childhood Educators (R.E.C.E) and Child Care Assistants for casual work on an on call basis. The Centre is a unionized equal opportunity employer that is a non for profit business operating in a school based setting. We are licensed to provide care for children 2.5-12 years of age.

Hours: May be scheduled between 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday.

Wages: R.E.C.E- $24.86 per hour

            Child Care Assistants- $20.24 per hour

Qualifications Required: 

*Must hold a diploma in Early Childhood Education (R.E.C.E only)

*Registered and in good standing with the College of ECE’S (R.E.C.E only)

*Must hold a current Standard First Aid/CPR-C certificate

*Must provide a clear current Vulnerable Sector Check

*Must complete medical form, TB test and health assessment

Required Skills:

*Able to plan and implement program, as a member of the team or on own, age appropriate programming both indoors and outdoors

*Able to provide learning experiences designed to meet the individual & group needs of the children

*Must be familiar with the Emergent Curriculum style of teaching (R.E.C.E.)

*Able to provide a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment

*Able to ensure that the philosophy of the program is upheld

*Must have strong behaviour guidance skills

* Must have good written and verbal communication skills

*Must be familiar with the City of Toronto Assessment for Quality Improvement guidelines, the Child Care and Early Years Act guidelines as well as Toronto Public Health guidelines (R.E.C.E only)

*Must have experience working with children

*Must have knowledge & experience with the ELECT & How Does Learning Happen documents (R.E.C.E only)
